For me meditation has become something that is essential to my daily life. Not everyday, but I meditate when I feel like doing it at least four times a week. Usually when I meditate, I focus on something that has an aromatic feeling...such as a wind chain, a picture, a 3D cube or a candle. But today I chose the wooden texture of my dresser.
It was exactly 9PM after talking to my friend Yasiru on the phone I sat on a cushion which was on the floor turning my face to the dresser. I kept starring at it. The wooden surface had never ending circles on it which I had never noticed before. I kept starring at them making my back straighter and straighter for me to be relaxed and easy to breathe. Everything was silent there was only the sound of mere rain drops falling on the roof. I closed my eyes.
During next 3or 4 minutes, I could focus my mind on that wooden texture I made up in my mind. I changed it in order to have a better view of the circles. Now the background turned pure white and the rings are still in wooden brown. I took one of the most clear and large rounds and tried to converge the middle of the circle...deep...deeper...deepest... (This is from where the trance started).
I started feeling dizzy. I heard my heart beat slowing down. I tried to open my eyes but I didn’t know how to. The feeling of being happy and scared came into my mind. Then it washed away by itself. Then, I came to a really, really and really lighten up state of my mind...it was like, I could smell something mint and I could taste something mint and I felt so cold...not with any of my five senses but by some other mean. All of a sudden I felt free and I was being lift up in the very method of sitting without changing a bit. I was being raised slowly and slowly constantly getting faster and faster. After few moments I was in a very loosen state just like I had no body. Even though I had a body it didn’t weight an mg! I can’t express in words but that magnificence can be called the best happiness in the universe! I floated up and up like a kite but I felt I was connected to something and I was not totally free (may be it was my body). I didn’t feel a thing...everything was as simple and harmonious as slowly blowing wind. I can’t squeeze out how I felt, I’m lost for words. The only word that might match would be ‘Magical’. I waited a bit trying to catch something physical by my eyes. But there was nothing but blank...a huge white blank! But I couldn’t hold it anymore, once again I was being moved up faster than the speed of light, heading to something similar to a gigantic sand bank. Then I was flying over it.....hundreds of miles over it at lightning speed. I wondered...sand at such a distance up in the sky? I couldn’t finish thinking...I had passed it...then I was able to see a flourishing, exquisite flower garden. Actually, it wasn’t a garden like we see usually. It had the feeling of a garden but it was only pleasing and colourful, charming flowers of various types. Three waterfalls were there starting at a height almost similar to the height I was. They were so wide like Niagara. When I looked forward, the sight was not clear due to the mist. The mist was spreading very dense. It didn’t take lot of seconds to pass that part as I was traveling so fast. Next thing I could see was a very bright red colour. Only that red was able to fill my screen completely! That colour of red was such a breathtaking colour...so brilliant, fantastic and astonishing! I’ve never seen a colour like that before. It was such an amazing colour! I was about to explode into laughter reaching the acme of happiness! Bit by bit...things changed back into white and the taste of mint in my mind swept away as I entered into the red colour. Next instant I slipped...somewhere. And with a shock I was back in the real world sitting on the cushion straight in the very manner I was an hour ago! The only change occurred to my body was, I was full of sweat...top to bottom!
